Migrating from 08, have 3rd party app question

So we are moving from our 08 R2 cluster to a new 2014 set up. Currently we have 6 named instances that 3rd party apps connect to. What would be the best way to handle that so we don't have to go out and touch all workstations? We were hoping to get away from using that many instances but if we have to we can reuse those names.Thoughts and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
