I noticed that one of the major changes with SP2 is that with trace flag 8079 you can turn on Automatic Soft NUMA:[quote]will interrogate the hardware layout and automatically configure Soft NUMA on systems reporting 8 or more CPUs per NUMA node[/quote]Since we are getting ready to migrate our core application's virtualized sql server from 2008 R2 to 2014 SP2 in test -- I was wondering if this would gain us anything in our environment? The VM specs, which mirror production, are going to remain the same with 14 vCPUs on a dual-socket host that with HT can present 56 logical threads. Do I have to ask the vmware admins to do anything to make this work? I wonder about the hypervisor scheduling cpus randomly across the two sockets.If anybody has any guidance, I would appreciate it.Jim
