I'm embarrassed to say but I've little to no experience with the newer versions of SQL server beyond 2008. Recently, I got approval to upgrade to 2012 however, with the newer 2014 version available I was wondering if it would be better to just go straight to 2014. Without really knowing how/if 2014 betters 2012, what would everyone recommend? Our main SQL Server is an extremely busy OLTP system, 64-bit, 128GB RAM, 2 sockets @ 6 cores, with thousands of connections, 4 primary databases with about 2 billion rows in total (and growing rapidly), we have transact replication set up, working towards SAN to SAN replication (using Recoverpoint), we have tons of scheduled jobs, etc.In efforts to keep this a readable post, I know there's a lot of information I'm clearly leaving out so feel free to ask...So I guess what I want to know is should I stick with 2012 or move to 2014? Why?
