What good is SQL Server AlwaysOn FCI w/o AlwaysOn Availability Groups?

I'm a developer who does a lot of IT but mostly a developer, and am trying to better understand AlwaysOn.Since SQL Server Standard does not support AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and mirroring is going away, could someone please explain to me what good is SQL Server AlwaysOn FCI w/o AlwaysOn Availability Groups for supporting a HA environment? I mean it's great I can fail over the SQL Instance but failing over the data is kind of important too. And given the 4 core minimum, per instance, SQL Server Enterprise for a 2 node cluster is around $32K/year so has been pretty much put out of reach for us and likely many others.Log shipping which is still in Standard, is not really HA and leaves a bit to be desired in terms of potential data loss even for DR.Are there any 3rd party products that can help create a HA/DR replicated environment for SQL Server Standard Edition? Esp. where we can run R/O reports on the secondary replica?MSFT apparently is forcing users to either license Enterprise or to not have HA features. They should support basic AlwaysOn AGs in Standard Edition so Standard users have some sort of decent HA and DR even if not the whole enchilada. Thanks, Dave
